A Compliant Drawing to Accompany a NESO Gate 2 Submission

Date

September 2025

Location

Yorkshire

Scope

The NESO Gate 2 submission is required to prioritise projects that are both ready to build and aligned with the UK’s clean energy strategy. By moving away from the old “first come, first served” system, the process helps clear out stalled applications and ensures serious developments receive timely, confirmed grid connection offers with set points and dates. This gives developers greater certainty and supports faster progress toward net zero targets.

A compliant drawing must also accompany the submission, which we were asked to produce with a tight deadline. This plan identifies the proposed grid connection point, key infrastructure, and land boundaries in line with regulatory standards. Providing an accurate and compliant drawing demonstrates project readiness and ensures the application can be assessed efficiently without unnecessary delays.

Delivery

We delivered the accompanying compliant drawing for the NESO Gate 2 submission within a two-day deadline, ensuring our client could proceed without delay. Upon acceptance of the redline, we also provided the required shapefile to support the submission in line with NESO requirements.

Our drawing was prepared to full compliance standards, including:

Mandatory:

  • Original Red Line Boundary clearly marked
  • Indication of scale and orientation used
  • Explanation of any symbols, colours, and abbreviations
  • Site address including postcode (if available)
  • Grid coordinates (Longitude and Latitude in WGS84 format to 3 decimal places of northerly, easterly, southerly, and westerly extreme coordinates of project site)
  • Installed capacity (expressed in whole MW or to one decimal place) for each technology
  • Total acreage secured within the Original Red Line Boundary (to 4 decimal places)

Non-Mandatory but recommended:

  • Supply of a GeoJSON file of the Original Red Line Boundary

This combination of a compliant plan and supporting digital file ensured the application was robust, accurate, and accepted without issue.
