Brief
An existing client reached out to us regarding a new development that required highway assistance at the planning stage. We were initially requested to create a highway report that would evaluate all elements of the proposal from a highway standpoint. This evaluation involved conducting vehicle tracking to assess parking manoeuvres related to the layout from the adjacent highway.
Result
The preliminary results of the swept path analysis indicated that adjustments to the layout were necessary to facilitate a vehicle’s access and egress from the property in a forward direction. Based on our experience, we recognize that such modifications would be needed, and we communicated this to both the client and their architect. We offered recommendations for the amendments, and the architect repositioned the plot slightly and expanded the central area between the bays. Following these revisions, the vehicle tracking manoeuvres were successfully executed. Upon submission, we received no objections from the highway officer, and the application was therefore approved from a highway perspective.
