Section 278 & Detailed Highway Design
M2 Consulting specialise in gaining Section 278 technical approval for highway designs of both residential and commercial developments. We produce all our designs in accordance with both national and local design standards, and produce and submit a full package of design drawings to the local authority for approval.
What we do
We produce a detailed design of the junction or highway works, which will typically already have planning approval. Our detailed design is required to gain technical approval to allow the developer to enter into a S278 agreement with the local authority.
Our design includes horizontal and vertical alignment, and ensures all proposed construction details and methods are in accordance with the design criteria of the local authority.
We produce a full suite of drawings, undertake the required utility searches and diversions, provide road safety audit designers response, and provide the legal highway agreement drawing.

After a successful planning process, the approval was granted with a condition stipulating the necessity of obtaining a 278 technical approval for the vehicular access and related footway works on the highway.
Our client tasked us with managing the process, as well as creating the design and drawings needed to secure technical approval from the local authority.
