Brief
In the course of obtaining technical approval for our client, it was necessary to conduct a C2 utility search. The findings from this search were to be submitted to the local authority as a component of the technical approval process. Should any utilities be affected, a C3 budget diversion cost would need to be established to incorporate any necessary diversions.
Result
An initial search of all utilities was conducted, which involved contacting all providers in the area to ascertain whether they have any infrastructure within the vicinity of the proposed works. If aprovider confirms their presence, they supplied us with plans indicating the location of their apparatus.
We compiled all relevant works in the area onto an existing utilities drawing, which is included in our submission to the council. Additionally, we provide a formal spreadsheet of all contacted providers, indicating whether they have infrastructure in the area and if they are affected by the proposed works.
The providers that were impacted were subsequently notified, and the process was escalated to the C3 stage. This stage initiates the procedure for them to provide us with a budget estimate for the potential diversion and the requirements associated with that diversion.
